Rutherford offers a cost effective and comprehensive range of food safety and training SOLUTIONS to effectively reduce food safety risks in the daily operation of a food business.

This is a self-paced training program which can be completed in four (4) easy steps. To successfully complete the program, you will:

1. complete the enrolment

2. make your payment for the program

3. reveiw each section and module of the program

4. complete and submit the "Food Safety Review" assessment

...and then receive comprehensive feedback and your Certificate!!!

1. Enrolment

Please Contact Us the RTS office (phone or e-mail) for your login name and password. Once payment is recieved, we will then e-mail you a Starter Pack that contains information about the program and the documents you will need to complete the program.

2. Make your payment

3. Review the program

There are many aspects to consider when trying to reduce or eliminate food safety hazards. For this reason, the training program has been broken down into four (4) "SECTIONS". These are topic headings that contain information that is related.

You do not necessarily need to start at SECTION 1, however the program will make more sense if you move through each of the SECTIONS in order.

These SECTIONS have been further divided into "bite-size" pockets of information in the form of "MODULES". Each MODULE consists of specific information and may also be broken down again into more components.

Most of the MODULES should take around 10 to 15 minutes to review.

The first pages of each SECTION provide an introduction and the MODULES of that SECTION can be found at the bottom of the page in "blue" bold text as a link.

You can use the "Back" and "INDEX" links, found at the top right hand corner of each page, to help you get around the program.

Where can I get help?

As part of the "Food Handler Basics" program, you are also entitled to access the RTS Helpdesk where you can speak to members of the RTS technical team (Food Technologists) who can help you with any questions you might have as you undertake the program.

4. Assessment using the Food Safety Review

The Food Safety Review is completed at your own pace. You may wish to refer to the relevant sections and modules of the training program as you complete the assessment. The questions consist of:

• multiple choice questions

• short answer questions

Once completed, the Food Safety Review must be returned so it can be assessed.

The Food Safety Review will be assessed by our technical team and comprehensive feedback given to you.

What if I fail?

A member of our team will contact you if further clarification of answers is required and will go through the information so that it is easily understood.

Every person who has attempted "Food Handler Basics" has received a certificate!

How do I get my certificate?

We will then mail your Certificate of Completion, in a rigid envelope, along with a copy of your marked Food Safety Review. We attempt to have a turn around of no more than 10 working days once your Food Safety Review is received.
