In-Service Training

Do your want a cost effective solution for your staff education needs?

Rutherford Technical Services has developed a series of in-service
training programs to assist food service organisations:

  • meet their mandatory staff education requirements

  • keep staff interested and informed with a range of topics

Staff also have professional support with access to the RTS Helpdesk, both during the program and into the future, to answer any food safety or related questions.

Who is the program for?

Rutherford Technical Services has developed this series of in-service training sessions to meet the requirements of food handling staff working in a range of food service settings, including:

  • aged care staff

  • health care staff

  • multi-tasking staff (working in food, cleaning, laundry, etc.)

  • general food handlers (food retailers, franchises, etc.)

  • child care staff

  • respite services staff

  • home & community care staff

  • kitchen volunteers (working in canteens, Meals on Wheels, aged care and respite services, etc.)

The in-service program has been developed to provide food handlers, especially with no prior formal food safety education, with easy-to-understand parcels of information that are relevant to their everyday activities.

The sessions are also relevant to staff working in multi-task roles, such as those moving between food, cleaning and laundry activities. Please contact us for a complete list of the
in-service sessions available.

How is the program completed?

In-service sessions are 1 hour each.

Participants are provided with a set of notes that are laser colour printed and in an easy-to-read format (text size, pictures, etc.). The training is delivered on site in a training room or similar and each in-service session can have up to 15 participants.

In order for your staff to achieve the most out of the in-service training, it is advisable to arrange for an annual package of 4 sessions per year (1 session per quarter). This keeps up the momentum of staff education whilst not overly interfering with everyday activities, rostering issues, etc.

Is there a test or a certificate?

There is no test to complete, as these sessions are aimed at providing staff with information.

Rutherford maintains a record of all staff who attend each in-service session within an organisation. Your organisation is provided with a summary of this information each quarter, or as needed.

Certificates of attendance can be issued to your organisation or individual staff members if required.

What is the cost?

The cost of the program will depend on a number of factors:

  • the number of in-service sessions required

  • the level of reporting and if certificates are required

  • if you are located outside the Sydney metro area

In order for us to provide you with an accurate cost, please contact us with the above information for a customised quote. We will also need your:

  • name/title and organisation

  • contact details
