Food Handler Basics (on-line)

Do you find it difficult to find the time (& money!) to effectively train your staff and volunteers?
Rutherford Technical Services has developed an on-line food safety training program to:
make it as easy as possible for staff and volunteers to meet food handler regulations
- to reduce the costs of mandatory education for organisations, especially not-for-profit and charitable organisations
Staff and volunteers also have professional support with access to the RTS Helpdesk, both during the program and into the future, to answer any food safety or related questions.

Who is the program for?
Rutherford Technical Services has developed an on-line training program to specifically to meet the requirements of food handling staff working in a range of food service settings, including:
in-store demonstrators
general food handlers (food retailers, franchises, etc.)
canteen staff
kitchen volunteers (working in canteens, Meals on Wheels, aged care and respite services, etc.)
child care staff
respite services staff
home & community care staff
- anyone who handles food!
What are the course outcomes?
The program has been developed to provide food handlers, especially with no prior formal food safety education, with the essential skills and knowledge needed to control food safety risks in a kitchen or any food handling environment.
On completion of the program, your staff and volunteers will be able to:
determine high risk foods and environments
identify common sources of contamination
prevent contamination during food handling
- significantly reduce food safety risks
How is the program completed?
The program is a self paced course, allowing staff and volunteers to complete it during quieter times at work, or at home. This ensures that the training is efficient and cost effective!
The program has been developed for on-line learning, however bound course notes are available. Printed course notes are laser colour printed and in an easy-to-read format (text size, index, etc.).
Is there a test or a certificate?
Yes. Once ready, participants complete the Food Safety Review assessment that consists of:
multiple choice
- short answer questions
The Food Safety Review is then assessed by our qualified team and feedback given. If successful, participants are issued with a Certificate of Completion listing the topics covered.
If our assessors feel that the answers given are lacking, we contact the participant to complete the questions verbally.
The Food Handler Basics program can be used towards an accredited qualification. If staff or volunteers require a Statement of Attainment, please contact us for further information.
What is the cost?
The cost of the program and RTS Helpdesk is only $80.00 + GST per person.
Hard copy course notes are available for $25.00 + GST including postage and handling.
A discount may be available to organisations with multiple participants, so please contact us for a customised quote.
How do I register?
We will need your:

- contact details
Shortly after you will receive a welcome email and invoice. Once paid, you will receive your Starter Pack, containing your logon details and other information.
