What are the food safety requirements?

Food businesses must meet the Food Safety Standards as set out by FSANZ (Food Standards Australia New Zealand) in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.

The Food Safety Standard - Food handling skills & knowledge describes the requirement for food businesses as:

  • Skill: Your staff and their supervisors must be able to do their work in ways that ensure that your business produces safe food.

  • Knowledge: Your staff and their supervisors must know about issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your business and the jobs they do for you.
This requirement came into force on the 24th February, 2002.

How does the RTS Food Handler Basics help me meet this requirement?

The RTS Food Handler Basics training program covers the many aspects of food safety that are required to give a food handler relevant and practical skills and knowledge to meet food safety standards in the workplace.
