Course Description:

This course is similar in approach to "Food Handler Basics". It has been developed to provide staff with the essential skills and knowledge needed to control OH&S risks in the workplace, especially the kitchen or other food handling environments.

The program is a self paced course and carried out via correspondence, allowing staff to complete it during quieter times at work, or at home. This ensures that the training is efficient and cost effective!

The course information is factual as well as practical. The course notes include diagrams and many colour images to assist in the correct application of OH&S information and procedures.

On completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • identify common health and safety hazards

  • take actions to prevent risk to own health and safety and that of others

  • effectively participate in OH&S consultative activities
The participant is provided with a set of bound and indexed course notes (colour), assessment booklet and access to the RTS Helpdesk for additional support throughout their training.

Assessment

Once ready, participants complete the OH&S Review assessment that consists of multiple choice and short answer questions. Once assessed, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion listing the topics covered.

The training program content is based on the accredited unit FDFCORHS1A - Follow work procedures to maintain health and safety and on request, participants will be supplied with relevant documentation for RPL purposes.

Cost

The cost of the program, including assessment, is only $110.00 per person including GST.
